I wasn't an avid reader of the comics, but am a huge fan of the '90's cartoon series and even the '00's cartoon. I am familiar with a lot of the lore. The movies were a let down though. X2, First Class, and Days of Future Past were good. The rest, not so much.

That said, they centered much of the reboots around Professor X without telling much of his story or going into why he started the X Men in the first place. It would be dope if they did a reboot and made it an origin story of Professor X. It could even be titled X: The Genesis. The plot would revolve around Professor X's birth and childhood for the first act of the film. This could include Cassandra Nova, the psychic entity he encounters in the womb and defeats. Professor X is born and although he looks normal, he feels different from everyone else. His powers don't manifest until after his father dies and his mother marries his father's science partner. He becomes haunted by a psychic presence as his powers develop. Of course, the movie will not detail the abuse he suffers at the hands of his stepfather, but it definitely should show the dynamic between Professor X and his step brother Cain Marko (Juggernaut). The bullying he suffers from Cain, Cain discovering Professor X's powers should be detailed. Also his mother's alcoholism should be shown. This portion also covers the death of his mother. In addition to the death of his stepfather dying in the explosion after saving Cain and Professor X. All of these events and how he deals with them should all culminate in him becoming Professor X.

The next move shows him excelling and becoming an adult after all of the tragedies. This next part is non-canon, but what's a movie without some non-canon. Since adolescence, Professor X feels he's been shadowed with this psychic entity calling out to him from the astral plane. The entity leads him to Cairo, Egypt where he not only encounters a young Storm, who robs him, but he meets the entity controlling her, Shadow King in the form of a human named Farouk. He learns that Farouk is a mutant as he is and the two form a bond until he disagrees with Farouk's philosophies concerning mutants. The two battle on the astral plane where he also discovers Cassandra Nova. Cassandra is revealed to be the presence that has been haunting him since childhood. He feels the connection to her and discovers her to be the psyche of his still born twin sister. Professor X is in for the fight of his life as he battles both entities on the astral plane. He beats both, but is severely injured.

The last portion of this film finds Professor X recovering in a hospital. He meets Legion's mother here when helps her recover from catatonia. They fall in love. It is also here where Professor X encounters Eric Lenshurr (Magento). They become friends and debate the mutant issue. Gabrielle is kidnapped (again, this next portion is non-canon) by Cassandra Nova, who has now acquired a physical body. She now has an alien race at her disposal. Cassandra is yet again defeated, but during the onslaught Magneto and Professor X reveal their powers to each other. While Cassandra and her aliens are defeated, but not before she permanently paralyzes Professor X. Magneto attempts to kill her (knowing this will cause a rift between Magneto and Professor X and make them long enemies), Cassandra allows Magneto to nearly succeed before Professor X stops him. Magneto leaves.

Professor X recovers under the care of Amelia. Given everything he's struggled with even before being born, he vows to bring harmony among mutants and humans. To Amelia's chagrin, he starts the X Men. As the film concludes, Professor X is recruiting his first team of X Men and Mageto is forming The Brotherhood.

The sequel would take place sometime after X: Genesis. This would begin telling Magneto's story as he has flashbacks to his childhood, his life with Wanda, and being estranged from his children. His flashbacks occur as he is leading his Brotherhood and Acolytes in a battle against the Professor X's X Men. It would be the Brotherhood (Sabertooth, Mystique, Juggernaut, and Avalanche) and the Acolytes (Amelia, Exodus, and Gambit) against the X Men (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Iceman, Angel, Beast, Psylocke, and Colossus). This battle does not end well for the X Men as members are severely injured. Professor X attempts to reason with Magneto after the battle, but he is set on destroying humanity whom he blames for crimes against mutants and more importantly what they had done to he and his family. Juggernaut belittles the Professor whom Professor X recognizes as his step brother Cain. He charges at the Professor, but is stopped as Jean shields the Professor with her powers. Psylocke uses her psychic blade to remove Juggernauts helmet and he is stunned by the Professor. Magneto and his forces leave Cain and the injured X Men as he wages war against humans. Fearing there isn't much time left before Magneto wipes out the entire human race, the Professor feels he must summon a second team of X Men to stop Magneto at all costs.

The Professor is also hurt by the fact that Amelia has joined Magneto's cause and feels she is a hypocrite for doing so. He reaches out to her telepathically, but she rejects him.

Professor X uses Cerebro to track more mutants. Once he has found his chosen, he and Jean embark on a mission to assemble this second line of defense. They travel to Canada and find Wolverine, who is instantly drawn to Jean. They then find themselves in Cairo where they recruit Storm. Rogue, Colossus, and Nightcrawler round out the second band of X Men. They all come with their own internal scars that the Professor helps heal while they vigorously train for battle.

Meanwhile, Magneto and his forces are kept at bay by Sentinels. While the sentinels prove to be no match for the master of magnetism, Bolivar Trask and a mysterious geneticist have extracted genetic material from mutants to create super sentinels.

Professor X also finds two more mutants just in case all else fails. Since Magneto played dirty recruiting his step brother Cain and former lover Amelia, Professor X has some tricks up his sleeve as well.

The mysterious figure has taken a special interest in Jean Grey and Cyclops. While the Professor was away recuting mutants, the mysterious figure kidnaps an injured Cyclops.

The Professor arrives back at the mansion and notices something sinister has taken place. He senses that Cyclops has been taken by a threat far greater than Magneto, but must first focus on stopping Magneto.

The Professor sends his X Men (Jean, Rogue, Storm, Colossus, Psylocke, Nightcrawler and Wolverine) into battle with Magneto and his forces yet again. This time they are met by super sentinels. They prove to be formidable opponents, but are no match against the X Men.

The X Men face off against Magneto's forces. Mystique is distracted at the sight of Rogue and Nightcrawler. Both are angry with her for abandoning them.

Wolverine faces off against Sabertooth. Storm and Jean face off against Exodus. Jean starts feeling her powers growing stronger.

Psylocke faces off against Amelia

Colossus faces off against Gambit.

Professor X confronts Magneto and asks him is this the type of world he would want for his children? Magneto asks "what children, humanity took everything from me". "Not everything father" utters a small voice as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver come into view. Magneto sheds tears as he is reunited with his children. He calls off the battle, which his forces were already losing to the X Men. As everyone retreats, huge blast occurs rendering everyone unconscious and scattered across the field. When everyone awakes several mutants are noticeably missing: Jean Grey, Exodus, Mystique, and Storm.

The missing mutants have been telephoned to a pyramid. Out of the shadows, the mysterious figure is revealed to be Mr. Sinister. He has Cyclops and Jean unconscious inside of a chamber. Mystique, Exodus, and Storm are mounted on horses. Mr. Sinister utters "your horsemen are ready. The apocalypse is at hand".

does not compute

There is a lot available online that is compiled about lore without ever having to read a comic. For example, you can find summaries and entire character histories online without picking up a comic. For example, someone posted an in depth summary of an entire series on here before.

A better idea for an x men reboot would be to remove every character in the X-Men group and replace them with the Avengers characters. They then fight thanos. would be GOAT.

MCU doesn’t seem to care about origin stories all that much. I honestly think they will tie mutants in somehow with one of the upcoming movies and then throw the X-men at us.

I would keep it simple and either start with Giant Sized X-men #1 or start with the OG founding members as teenagers and save the Giant Sized group for the sequels. No need to over-complicate things.

Len Wein, Dave Cockrum, Chris Claremont, and John Byrne were the guys who really laid the blueprint for this whole X-men phenomenon.
All Feige has to do is stay close to what the OG comic writers did back in the Jim Shooter days and they'll be straight.

Eh I don’t know if I’d want to sit through a Prof X story. Honestly they could just reboot and do some tweaks to the 90’s cartoon and I’d be good. Start off with a formed team of characters people like and get it poppin from the get go. We don’t need introductions after 9 X Men movies. Just make good ones with good villains no more mystique for the love of God, you got Sinster, you could redo Apocalypse, Magneto and the Acolytes(instead of the brotherhood bring in Exodus, Fabian Cortez etc) do Genosha or hell the Savage Land. So many classic X Men stories to pull from and tweak enough to be fresh and not just retread Cyclops/Jean, Wolverine staying or leaving, making Storm, Rogue, Nightcrawler, Havok, Banshee, etc totally useless side notes or bringing in classic characters *cough* psylock *cough* Angel to do absolutely nothing

exactly origin stories for characters we already know are awful. I liked how they handled spider man, he literally just popped up out the blue. I want them to explain the mutant gene and then start running wild with mutants. No back stories just jump right into the mix
