WWE Adding 3rd Show To Lineup On ION Network

ION pins down 'WWE Main Event' - Entertainment News, TV News, Media - Variety

WWE will launch a third weekly show, "WWE Main Event," on the ION Network beginning in October.

The one-hour series will air on Wed nights, bowing Oct. 3. Show will feature WWE stars from the rosters of "Monday Night Raw" and "Friday Night SmackDown," continuing storylines from both shows and performances in front of live audiences in arenas like its current series.

The new three-hour "Raw" currently airs on USA Network, while "SmackDown" is on Syfy.

"Main Event" will be available in 100 million U.S. television households on ION Television.

"ION Television is delighted to begin a new partnership with such a successful and well-recognized franchise as WWE," said Brandon Burgess, CEO, ION Media Networks. "As a general entertainment network with a solid foundation, WWE Main Event is a great addition to our lineup that features something for everyone. Since Smackdown is traditionally taped on Tuesdays, when will these matches be filmed? I assume before Smackdown? This all may have worked when the roster was slammed (ie: 02) but to do this when you have arguably your thinnest roster in recent memory?
