Some very interesting news has just landed as director Bryan Singer has revealed, via his Twitter feed, that "American Horror Story" star Evan Peters has joined the cast of the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past in the role of Magneto's son, Pietro Maximoff, aka Quicksilver. The news arrives in the wake of confirmation from Joss Whedon that Quicksilver and his sister, Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, both have roles in his script for Marvel's The Avengers 2.

"Before he was an #Avenger," Singer writes, "he was just a REALLY fast kid. Thrilled to say #EvanPeters is joining #XMen #DaysOfFuturePast as #Quicksilver."

The news also arrives following confirmation this morning that Saoirse Ronan is interested in taking on the Scarlet Witch role in Marvel's The Avengers 2. The actress is said to be the "model" for Whedon's iteration of the character.

"We both have them," Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told SuperHeroHype of the character rights last summer. "There's a specific arrangement with those two characters that would allow us to use them with 'Avengers,' but not discuss or reference their mutant or Magneto-related lineage. They can use them as mutants and as Magneto's relatives, but cannot have anything to do with 'The Avengers.'"

Peters will join Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing and Boo Boo Stewart in the mutant ensemble, set for release July 18, 2014.

Another crowded X-Men movie :russ:

And yeah, Fox purposely added him to Days Of Future Past to spite Marvel.

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
I don't get how disney acquired marvel but can't use all the characters.

Marvel sold the films rights to many of their characters (Spiderman, X-Men, FF, Hulk, Daredevil, Blade, Ghost Rider) to certain studios before being bought by Disney in 2009.

Spiderman and Ghostrider were bought by Sony/Columbia.
X-Men, Daredevil, and FF were bought by Fox.
Blade were bought by New Line.
Punisher was in limbo at many studios over the years.

Disney/Marvel can still use all of these characters for television.

And since then some of those characters (Ghostrider, Daredevil, Punisher, and Blade) have reverted back to Marvel due to the studios not developing any films for these characters. As long as they (Sony, Fox) throw out a new movie every so often, they get to keep the rights.

But anyway - yes this is a dikk move by FOX. The actor they cast for Quicksilver looks more like Arcade than Quicksilver. This is some trolling shyt.

At first I thought it was an acquisition of everything right away but it looks like they did the deal so that it didn't interfere with any other deals marvel made and they'll get the rights back once those deals expire from what I could tell

Disney would have to pay out the ass to get the film rights back from those studios (and they just bought Star Wars for $4 billion so I don't see them trying for awhile). They probably would have a better time getting Spiderman from Sony considering FOX has the highest grossing movie of all time and isn't strapped for cash.

He's a good actor, would be nice if they could use him for Avengers 2 also. As long as the dont reference Magneto or call him a "mutant"

apparently Whedon will cast a different actor to play him in Avengers 2.

Joss Whedon was a guest on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" last night and Fallon tried to get a scoop out of the filmmaker about Marvel's The Avengers 2.

He asked whether there are new characters and Whedon replied, "There are new characters. I've already said that we're going to have a brother-sister team, the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, who were great mainstays of The Avengers when I was reading the comics as a kid."

Fallon said that he did not know the characters and then asked whether they had started casting them yet. Whedon said, "Not yet, we're doing that now."

Also looks like they found their Scarlet Witch

Two weeks ago, SuperHeroHype broke the story that Marvel Studios are looking at Irish actress Saoirse Ronan as their "model" for the Scarlet Witch in the upcoming Avengers sequel. While this isn't a confirmation on the casting, it does point toward a general direction that the film could go with the characters. The Mary Sue spoke with the actress about the rumor and her interest in taking on the part.

"I have heard about it and yes, I would. Yeah, of course I would. I love Joss and I love those films, and I love his handle on them and how he portrayed these kinds of superheroes. I think it’s very different from what anyone else has done. So yeah, I’d love to be in it.”

Dorne.
Is the Scarlet Witch going to be in them too? She's the only reason he's interesting...
