whos watching these?:what:

giving your thoughts and opinions on a trailer is one thing, but recording yourself watching it and reacting???

God knows I've wasted a good portion of my life rummaging the internet taking part in meaningless convos and soaking up useless information... but watching someone watch a trailer??? :what:

And even worse they talk and stuff and do all sorts of fake overreacting:what:

I see channels with like hundreds of thousands of subscribers. These people actually make cake doing this???

Someone help offer some clarity on this.

If you already watch a channel for movies or tv reviews like Grace or collider who actually have credentials (to see early screeners) trailer reactions aren't a stretch but stuff like tyrus Magnus are a bit creepy. Why the fuk would I want to watch some Joey nobody over act as he watches a trailer because he knows a camera is on him and the more animated the more views he gets. That's when this internet thing gets weird

You know when you see some cool shyt and you wanna show your friends some cool shyt to see if they react the same way you do? That's the idea of reaction videos or at least from what I can tell. Most of those things are boring because people just watch the video then shut the camera off and those are the ones I steer away from, however there's some that give reviews and analyze a show or trailer afterwards in the same way people do movie reviews n shyt. So people like The Normies and Blindwave are good to watch if you like listening to reviews. They also do skits so that's cool too :manny:

like the saying goes: everyone gets 15 mins of fame....the boom of the internet and social media just made it easier for folks to try to get it....reaction vids are included in that...and whether it's off the vids themselves, or the vids leading to something else, some do make bread off of it....

This. Every time a new blockbuster trailer comes out I'll put it on for my girl to see what she thinks, then we talk about it:manny:

I'm not sure why I like it but it's just interesting to get genuine reactions to something. I love it when Double Toasted reacts to a new trailer, they have a whole called segement on their show called Trailer Tuesdays when they watch and then give impressions. I watch the Blind Wave people as they watch key scenes of Game of Thrones, to measure their responses to certain scenes to mine.

I'm not watching people react to random videos, and I usually steer clear of actual reaction channels that give fake overeactions, but the basic premise of watching people react to something that just came out is a small guilty pleasure.

Yea I forgot about double toasted. They're another good example of doing it right.

I used to watch my brother play games growing up so the gaming channels are a big draw for me. it's never been weird to me if you find enjoyment in watching someone else play a game, but I gotta agree with you about the run of the mill react to absolutely anything youtube channels

I watch Let's Plays for the games I'm kinda interested in but either don't want to buy/or I hear aren't good (like Mafia III) just so I can get the story, almost like binge watching a series.

But reaction vids are weird to me, and I've never seen one because the concept is stupid.

For the most part, YouTube is where mediocre lives. Even the best sketches aren't great, I don't watch pranks because even if they're real, I'm too old to be excited by someone being shocked or surprised, and being in my late twenties, I'm too old to be living vicariously through another person, so vlogs are stupid to me.

Breakfast Club/Hot 97/Rap interviews
Sneaker/tech reviews here and there

Done.

The only reaction vids I thought were worth watching was when people who read the Game of Thrones books recorded their friends who had not read the books during the Red Wedding episode.
Those reactions were pretty cool.
All this stuff with people building entire YT channels on their reactions to trailers and stuff is just stupid.

You've clearly underestimated the stupidity of the average human being. Now that you've been enlightened, what you choose to do with this information going forward is up to you. You could choose use this stupidity to your advantage, and start a reaction channel yourself as a means of supplementing your income.
