Most people did not like Attack of the Clones. They hated Phantom Menace.

Revenge of the Sith was redeemable and respected.

But overall, George was sh*tted on for 1-3.

And not just 1-3, but also some of 4-5-6 era.

Some said Empire Strikes Back was the best because he didn't direct it. And they hate him for the Ewoks in ROTJ because they thought he was chasing the merchandise and money instead of a good story. And that ROTJ was a drop off in quality because he was more involved with ROTJ than he was with Empire.

George was burnt out and bitter. And you can understand why. This was his baby. He damn dear died trying to make the first movie, yet he endured a lot of criticism. Some warranted, but a lot of it was unnecessary nitpicking.

Given the current state of the franchise, maybe now those same fans are starting to appreciate all that George did for the franchise, creatively and financially.

IMO none of the prequels are seeing the OG films. They weren't seeing the originals when they were released and they will never be on the level of the originals. Revenge of the Sith is much better than the first two, and even that movie has pretty serious issues with excessive CGI, crappy dialogue, overly video-gamey action sequences, and questionable character decisions. (How did the Jedi NOT notice that Palpatine was evil?)

To be fair though, Palpatine was easily the best part of RotS for me. He reminds me so much of the devil-- he starts with his temptations to commit minor offenses, and it slowly grows from there. He plays on peoples' pride and arrogance. He promises everything you ever wanted, if you just follow him ( :demonic: ) but never delivers on any of it and only uses you to push his agenda, leaving you a bitter, decimated wreck of yourself. Palpatine was a master manipulator in this film, and that's the one thing that they really got right with RotS.

For all my issues with the prequels though, at least they had a clear vision in terms of where they wanted to go with it. They should have kept George Lucas' rough outline for the plot of the sequel trilogy and just hired a few extra pairs of eyes handle the dialogue and personal interactions between the characters.

just like the devil ... palpatine does deliver on what he says because what he says is a variation of the truth. he tells enough of the truth to accomplish his agenda.

what killed the prequels was all the cgi .. i bet if it had more practical effects and sets the fans wouldnt have revolted against George

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing a remaster of the prequels with updated CGI. Early CGI is just

when those movies came out, I thought the CGI was good at the time. it just hasn't aged well.
CGI typically doesn't age well regardless of time period

Jurassic Park still holds up damn near 30 years later. Thanos looks :whoo:. Game Of Thrones has GOAT level CGI considering I didn't even realize till recently how much of the show utilizes it(well over 50%)

For the most part CGI is:francis:. The best iterations of it were perfect storms of talent

After ep 7 and 8 I am starting to think extremely highly of the prequels. I mean at least they were actually part of the story instead of some fan fic reboot.

The fans actually ran Lucas off and opened the door for this disaster that is Disney Star Wars

The real problem with the prequels is they don't lend themselves to a movie format very well. George wanted to do so much shyt that would've been better served as book material. They would've been much better with some focus and plot editing

Also the acting is TRASH in the prequels:mjlol:

This is a all a sample of fhe types of atypical responses
post great recession revisionist based posts ideas in one small copy and paste ideal from a global to one sided negative to liberal ideal.
only bad acting in star wars is from non-principled characters.
who Lucas had a hard time casting and that was discussed at the time.
beyond that,...
the prequels issues mainly were fixed in clones.
where the only glaring issue was the casting choice of anakin..
the rest of the critiques.
after anakin, are just complete disconnect to the series.

Which flirt on and were systematically brought on in socialization.
during the divorce era segueway and coupled with the communication act.
plus its negative effects of the prison industrial economy system era to now.
