I think he's actually serious about this. Climate change is making a lot mineral deposits assesible in Greenland. The US will want this for creating chips and another tech. Its even more feasible given the race to A I. dominance. Also Canada will be increasingly more valuable given how insulated they'll be from the worst of climate change.

damn near every state government is backlogged with work as is, reduction of the federal government would cause catastrophic damage to every service possible.

That's what needs to be fixed and is the reason why the federal government has to operate outside of its intended capacity.
This nation was always supposed to be 50 independent nations united strictly by a shared dedication to maintaining an independent spirit within our shared continental borders.
The states that can't handle their responsibilities need to be consolidated with those that can.
