Your a uber talented NBA Player that has Lebron/Anthony Davis level of talent and versatility, you've been with your trash team for a while now you've just became a free agent when your just about to reach your prime, do you;

Stay loyal GOAT of a title less franchise and never win MVP or................

Be a snake and piggyback your way to multiple MVPs and Championships?

:jbhmm: NBA reddit made me think about this topic

It depends.

Malone was the GOAT Utah Jazz player and he's had a hell of a career even without a ring. On the other hand, Marc Gasol is arguably the GOAT Grizzlies player... He's nice but not THAT nice if you feel me.

Gimme the titles and top 10 GOAT spot :manny:

I take winning. :manny:

Winning will expand your brand, thus bringing in more money, than you could of made by getting supermax and losing in the first round. The franchise can trade you whenever they want and you have no control over it, also franchises move and leaves it's records, you basically the GOAT of a team that was once active in the NBA.

If your Lebron level talent the media has made it to where you have to win a championship. No matter what you do or how great you are without a championship your legacy by the media will always be about not winning one.

I think its easier for a guy like Lliard to say this because he still has time and most importantly he doesn't have all-time great expectations on him. Nobody other then his peers joking with him, 20 years from now will care if lliard got a ring or not:yeshrug:. People will say he was a good player who had a good career.

Winning easily

Ewing is arguably the GOAT player for the Knicks and he's given no recognition except for being one of the names people say Jordan stopped from having a ring.

Same applies with Malone and the Jazz.

These guys r recognized as some of the greats. But I seen them be brushed aside as when it comes to position arguments. And u have people who try to detract from them and say"they were never that great" as well as other things that r more negative

In the title you're asking one question, and then in your opening post you're asking a completely different question :mjlol:

One could in theory rise to become a top 10 player all time while simultaneously playing for a title-less franchise.

As far as what you're asking in the thread if I been on a trash team for "a while" how would I be a snake for wanting to play on a better team.

I take money over anything and not taking no paycuts..

Titles in the long run would be great but I really wouldn't care if I had a ring or not

It matters to HIM though, that’s the thing. Life shouldn’t be about how others feel about you but about how you feel about yourself, at least if you’re actually mature.

I agree it shouldn't matter what others think. Im just saying in the grand scheme of things he isn't going to have to answer questions consistently about why he never won a championship if he doesn't get one. He doesn't have the external pressure to win like Lebron does. Tbh its that same external pressure that probably had to do with Durant doing what he did as well. If the media doesnt put so much of the players legacy into if the won a ring or not, these type of moves might not be made.

That's why cant really get mad at the Boston Big 3, Bron, KD or who ever teams up next. If your great the media almost forces your hand. I remember how KD was the Anti-Lebron when he signed his extension with OKC, now look at him. If Lilard really wants it like you say he does lets see if he has that same energy at the end of his career if he still has no rings.

Im not bashing Lliard I like him and if that's trully how he feels I respect his competitiveness, but I just think its unfair to hold players like Lebron, KD etc. to the same standard, with media like it is now.
