Suburban West Palm Beach man in jail on weapons charges after allegedly shooting at bail bondsman late Friday
By Breaking News Staff
LAKE WORTH —
A suburban West Palm Beach man was being held at the Palm Beach County Jail on weapons charges Saturday afternoon after an armed confrontation with a bail bondsman late Friday, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.
Sheriff’s detectives found three weapons — a shotgun, a .38-caliber pistol and a .38 special revolver — during a court-approved search of the North Haverhill Road residence of Kenneth Burroughs, said Deputy Eric Davis, sheriff’s spokesman.
They were called to the home, near Stacey Street between Belvedere Road and Okeechobee Boulevard, around 9 p.m. after a bail bondsman had reported being fired upon while trying to apprehend Burroughs, Davis said. Burroughs, 33, came out of the home after a short standoff with sheriff’s officers, Davis said.
The home’s interior showed evidence that several rounds of ammunition had been fired, Davis said. Eleven expended shotgun shell casings were located on the floor throughout the residence.
Burroughs was arrested early Saturday and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, felon possession of a firearm, shooting within a dwelling and child neglect. Criminal history revealed that he has been convicted of seven past felonies, Davis said.
Burroughs admitted to sheriff’s officers that he owned the weapons, Davis said.
