New details are available regarding WWE’s decision to make promote five women from the NXT roster to Raw and Smackdown. Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Vince McMahon made the call to promote Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Ruby Riot, Liv Morgan and Sarah Morgan becuase he felt that the Raw and Smackdown women’s divisions had grown stale. The decision was made shortly after the Mae Young Classic took place.

According to the site, Rose’s name was the first that came up because creative has previously pitched ideas for her potential debut. The site also notes that while the amount of call-ups led to speculation online about a women’s Royal Rumble match, there’s no word that such a match is being planned for the upcoming PPV.

Seeing Trish and Lita as surprise entrants would be cool moments, but beyond that, I'm not ready for a Women's Royal Rumble. I'd like to see them come up with an original idea for the women, or dust off and update an old match.

The women don't get enough time as it is already for me to be invested in a Rumble match. So the winner gets a 5 minute match at Wrestlemania on a 14 match card, right before the main event?
