The PS3 and 360 games on average, have a budget of $50 million and the retail price of $60. That already made gaming companies like Midway and THQ obsolete this gen. The PS4 graphics are impressive, but I can't help but wonder how much money do the development of the games is gonna cost, or worse, the raising of retail prices of games to $70.

If so, will you continue gaming?

EA wants 69.99 PLUS microtransactions. Their greedy investors are trying to suck the gaming market dry. Their greed is sickening. They easily recoup the costs and profit on the games on top of nickel and diming friends for DLC but then, then, they come out of their face and want to raise the price of the game itself. They make a heavy return on each game they put out like this all in the name of greed. Its sad to see Microsoft playing ball with them like this. Both companies are going to pay, one day.

Game prices drop like rocks after the first few months (sometimes even weeks). Game companies can try to raise the prices but I'm gonna continue not copping on day one.
These guys are up in arms about absolutely NOTHING. Game prices drop so fast these days that the starting price point is nothing if you have a little patience.

Yeah, but most people don't have patience these days. People will rush out to buy the latest COD or GTA and have pride on the first ones to play it online.

With all this talk about how the PS4 is so developer friendly, you would think the prices would drop. They shouldn't need as many people to make the game and they should be able to finish them faster. If thats not part of the benefit of making it "developer friendly" then sh!t what really is the point?

Supposedly, this is what it costs to add ONE fighter to a fighting game.

$48,000: Staff Salaries - 8 people for 10 weeks
$30,000: Animation and Clean-up Contracting
$4,000: Voice recording
$2,000: Hit-box Contracting
$5,000: Audio Implementation Contracting
$20,000: QA Testing
$10,000: 1st Party Certification
$10,500: IndieGoGo and Payment Processing Fees
$20,500: Manufacturing and Shipping Physical Perks

So if its easier for devs to make the game with the PS4, or any other console that is developer friendly, all of those prices should be reduced.......I'm just using basic logic though. Maybe it doesn't work like that....but it should.

I believe the big goal this generation is to reduce development costs. Both systems were manufactured in a way that developers should be able to squeeze out more performance while spending less money. Also both Sony and Microsoft are offering development tools and resources that will help developers keep costs down.

They are going to be able to reduce costs but now they see it as an opportunity to pocket the money they used to spend.

like its already been said in here, just have some patience and be a smart shopper.

I havent payed full price for a brand new game in a while. some even on drop day.

I already got GTA5, The Last of Us, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, etc preordered for $44.99 each with free shipping and no tax. Got Soul Sacrifice, Killzone: Mercenary, Tearaway, and some others preordered for only $29.99 with free shipping and no tax. NewEgg:ahh:

then you already know GameStop, Amazon, eBay have new copies for $50 and less after a couple weeks to a month or so.

but yeah, I do expect a higher price to start the next gen maybe by like 5 bucks maybe 10 but eventually it will go back to the $60 price.
