CM Punk is channelling his inner nastiness once again, and even though the frantically busy Chris hasn’t had much time to watch RAW, he’s got a theory on Punk’s new-found heel turn, and new stable manager Paul Heyman, his old boss from ECW.

Jericho: “Listen, Punk is a great performer and a really great heel. I think he’s doing better as heel as he genuinely has more of that personality. When he was a babyface it was more of an in-thing after he did the speech, but I’m convinced he’s more comfortable being a heel.

“With John Cena there you’re never going to be No 1, so maybe he got sick of being No 2 and decided the way to get to No 1 was being a heel. I think that’s what’s going on".

Nothing new here, Punk always has excelled at playing the heel because its closer to his actual personality. Even face Punk is only interesting when he's turning up the deviousness.

True. But what makes this interesting is that Punk, at his hottest last year, could of been legit on top had he not run into the Nash/Cripple H stuff and had he not become complacent as a jokester face in the aftermath. Fans were really with him in key spots like New York but after Survivor Series 2011, it was clear that after all the "pipe bombs", Best in the World shirts that sold well, and decent matches, he was still just a #2 overall, some thought Blandy was right there but I don't think so. Blandy wasn't seen as the very top after Punk blew up post Money In The Bank last year.

Agreed. Only promos I liked from face Punk was the shoot on Haitch and then Nash (that knees/channel click ether was incredible.) After that he was corny until he let loose on Johnny Ace that one night.

That's a company line. Cena is not the most hard working anything, which is what he's implying by saying something like that. He's the guy who is booked to look the best, makes the most money, and is the most protected. He sees Punk in that light? Well...that's just another spin from Cena. He said similar things about Blandy in the past when he got hot 3 years ago even though he couldn't produce a 4.0 if he's child's life depended on it. He also said his favorite top guy of all time was Hogan. Then he switched it to Austin when his DVD came out. Cena's word is the definition of shaky in the wrestling industry. He's a hypocrite of the nth level.

That's why it's best to glean from a Jericho and see what kind of slick shyt he says when he's away from it all.
