A Wisconsin teacher admitted that he spent two years pooping — sometimes multiple times per day — on and near a building in a public park in Wisconsin, the Janesville Gazette reported Tuesday.
Jeffrey Churchwell, a soon-to-be-retired English teacher at Milton High School, was fined $375 for disorderly conduct and forced to pay a $5,705 restitution to the county public works department, according to the Gazette. Churchwell had been dropping deuces by the building at Natureland Park in Whitewater, Wisc., about halfway between Madison and Milwaukee, since 2017.
Churchwell told investigators that he pooped in the park to be disrespectful, but also because it was convenient, the Gazette reported. He later said he was “being an idiot.”
The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office began investigating after a man filed a complaint about someone pooping in the park and leaving used toilet paper behind, according to the Gazette. They later identified a car that was consistently at the scene when the feces was left behind and traced the car to Churchwell. He was confronted by officers on Oct. 8, 2019 and admitted to going “No. 2” in the park.
Churchwell has taught in the Milton district since 1990, the Gazette reported. His retirement was approved on Dec. 18.
The public works department had been cleaning up the messes and getting complaints for years, but apparently never took action.
