Was watching this today and it just hit me that the NBA is gonna be a lot less in fun in a couple of years when Kobe retires. No one in the NBA today played the game quite like Kobe. And I don't think anyone of the young swing-men coming up right now (Austin Rivers, Shabazz Muhammad, Andrew Wiggins) got the combo of athleticism and skill to become the next Kobe.
I grew up as a Jordan fan near the end of the Jordan era, so the transition into the Kobe era was easy for me. I started following the Lakers cause I liked Kobe's playing style cause it was the most similar to Mike.
Now that it looks like Kobe is gonna retire in 2-3 years, I'm wondering if we'll see another players like Jordan/Kobe. Sure LeBron and Durant are great players. But I personally don't find their playing style as aesthetically pleasing to watch as Kobe and Mike's. Kobe and Mike are the only players in NBA history without any weaknesses. Dudes who could do anything on the floor at a high level.
Its kinda crazy that our generation (late 90s-present) got spoiled cause we got to see both MJ and Kobe back to back. I'm wondering how long it'll be until we see another Kobe?
