Why do we sleep?

Eating/drinking is what nourishes our body and gives it the necessary energy.

Nothing in our body is entirely shut down when we sleep.

I've even heard the brain is even more active during sleep but don't quote me on that.

But anyways, will there be a time where humans will evolve to the point of not needing sleep?

Wasn't sleep just a response to lower visibility during the nighttime so we might as well "rest?"

Speak on it.

Try staying up for a couple of days. The effects of Lack of sleep are just as bad if not worse than being intoxicated.

I doubt it. The body is a high functioning machine, like any machine,it needs to rest or it will burn out and destroy itself.

Imagine the possibilities of an extra portion of time added to each and every day, so much more to be accomplished (assuming you've got things to do..).

Im with u on this though

In terms of survival and evolution, im surprised our bodies need as much sleep as they do in order to properly function. Im sure H-omoErectus (just now realized how suspect that sounds) didnt sleep for 8 hours a night, but still
