I was goin back and forth with somebody else on another forum about the number of brothas killed by cops vs the number of brothas killed by brothas (black on black violence) so I ended up citing this count the Guardian did of police homicides:
The Counted: people killed by police in the United States – interactive
According to them 306 blacks were killed by police in 2015 and 194 have been killed so far this year which even now averages to exactly 250 a year. At some point I thought about what the rough total black homicide rate for policemen in America is... I looked up the total number of policemen in America and found that according to Wikipedia (which cites a government study which isn't online anymore) there's about 765,000 sworn officers working in the USA right now.
Law enforcement in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Calculating the total cop-on-black homicide rate for a per 100,000 rate, I found that the rate (250/7.65) is 32/100,000
You read that right, 32/100,000.
The rate for unarmed black people killed by cops in 2015 (79 unarmed black people killed in 2015) is almost exactly 10/100,000.
To put that in perspective, the stats that Trump cited the other day about black homicides put the total black on black homicides in 2011 at 2,447. If you were to calculate the black on black homicide rate for the total USA black population though (37.1 million), the rate (2,447/371) is 6.57/100,000.
You read that right, 6.57/100,000.
Y'all see where I'm going with this? Why doesn't anybody in the media see it though
These cops outchea literally killing unarmed black people at damn near twice the rate as black people kill black people and they're killing black people in general at 5x the frequency.
Want to know what's really fukked up though? In 2015 the police killed white people (581 total) at a rate (wait for it)...
... of 75.91/100,000.
Yet somehow, white people have convinced themselves that police brutality is not their problem.
They've also convinced themselves that your average black person is more dangerous to another black person than your average cop is... when that simply isn't true
