Seriously, I remember growing when comic book movies were rare aside from non-superpowered guys like Batman and Blade. And I rmemeber the first X-men movie came out and people were like :ohhh: are special effects good enough to actually make an X-men movie? But pretty much that and the first Spidey movie brought on the comic book movie era, and we've been getting a LOT of comic movies since then. Quality varies but a lot of them are surprisingly good. And after the success of 'Avengers' the studios are pretty much putting them out as fast as they can.

2015:
May 1: Avengers: Age of Ultron
July 17: Ant-Man
August 7: Fantastic Four (Fox)

2016:
February 12: Deadpool (Fox)
March 25: Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice
May 6: Captain America: Civil War
May 27: X-Men: Apocalypse (Fox)
August 5: Suicide Squad
October 7: Gambit
November 4: Doctor Strange

2017:
March 3: Untitled Wolverine sequel (Fox)
May 5: Guardians of the Galaxy 2
June 2: Fantastic Four 2 (Fox)
June 23: Wonder Woman
July 28: Marvel Studios co-produced Spider-Man film
(Sony, new addition)
November 3: Thor: Ragnarok (new date)
November 17: Justice League, Part 1

2018:
March 23: The Flash
May 4: Avengers: Infinity War, Part 1
July 6: Black Panther
(new date)
July 13: Untitled Fox Mystery Marvel film
July 27: Aquaman
November 2
: Captain Marvel (new date)

2019:
April 5: Shazam
May 3: Avengers: Infinity War, Part 2
June 14: Justice League, Part 2
July 12, 2019: Inhumans
(new date)

2020:
April 3: Cyborg
June 19: Green Lantern

So far there's no sign of this slowing down. Who would've ever thought that Deadpool, Suicide Squad, Gambit, Dr. Strange, and Aquaman would get their own big budget movies?

So the question I'm posing is this:

Do you think the preponderance of big budget comic book movies is a trend that will die out at some point? And if so, when? Or do you think comic book movies are here to stay for the long run?

Personally I'm not tired of them at all. :ehh:

they BEEN played out for years now anyway

Dunno about that, they're still pulling in lots of $$$ with no real sign of it slowing down. Avengers is the 3rd highest grossing film of all time and it's only a few years old. Even Iron Man 3 is one of the highest and people didn't even like it like that.

If something like an Avengers or Superman movie comes out I pretty much feel obligated to go see it opening weekend. :russ:

:comeon: Do Summer Blockbusters get played-out? There's so much decades of history in Marvel & DC comics alone, they'll always be stories to tell.

lots of shyt pulls in money but it's still wack & played out. there's too many superhero movies. they're not doing anything new or different with them just cranking out bullshyt origin stories. it's the go to thing for movie companies these days because the general population eats it up most of the time so they can crank out any old superhero & it's almost guaranteed to make money.

As long as there are comi-cons, teenagers, and adolescent adults in the world to rush the theaters every year comic book flicks ain't goin nowhere...it's almost like nerd oops hipster karma for all the action flicks we stayed lovin from the 80's-late 90's

There will always be stories to tell :manny:

I won't say played out but many won't make big money
This.

I think it's proven to be more than a fad. It's a solid, dependable genre but not everything is going to be gold or getting Avengers/Batman money. Both DC and Marvel are pulling out all the stops over the next 5 years. It'll be interesting to see what happens after that. Marvel will probably be looking to reboot a bunch of shyt.

if it does get played out i see it being on the small screen. There's enough variety in the movies that it has something for just about everybody.
