Mega couple Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have embraced their “life partners” status and no longer say they are married, since marriage has changed as an institution.
“We don’t even say we’re married anymore. We refer to ourselves as life partners,” Will said during an appearance on TIDAL’s Rap Radar podcast.
Will explained that he and Jada have a strong relationship that will forever stand the test of time. Marriage has changed drastically over the last 8 years and it no longer holds any meaning to Will and Jada.
“Where you get into that space where you realize you are literally with somebody for the rest of your life, there’s no deal breakers,” said Will. ”
There’s nothing she could do, ever, nothing that would break our relationship. She has my support till death, you know what I mean? And it feels so good to get to that space where you’re not complaining, and worrying, and demanding that a person be a certain thing.”
Jada agrees. In an interview in June, she said:
“Take out all that whole marriage, relationship crap, at the end of the day Will and I are family. I am going to hold him down, doesn’t matter. All that relationship and what people think of ideas of a husband, partner and all that, man whatever. At the end of the day, that is a man that can rely on me for the rest of his life, period.”
Will, 49, and Jada, 46, have endured decades of break up rumors since tying the knot in 1997. They were accused of being swingers and even beards for each other’s alternative lifestyles.
But they are still going strong while their critics are working on their 2nd and 3rd divorces.
