Carlos Peguero of the Seattle Mariners, whose wife, Maria, is accused of using a credit card owned by fellow Mariner Felix Hernandez’s wife to purchase $180,000 worth of Saks Fifth Avenue goods.
The wife of Seattle Mariners outfielder Carlos Peguero allegedly used the credit card of teammate Felix Hernandez's wife to rack up nearly $180,000 in charges from Saks Fifth Avenue's website.
Maria Jacqueline Peguero, 22, daughter of the late Cincinnati Reds relief pitcher Pedro Borbon, faces three counts of wire fraud and could get up to 20 years behind bars, The Seattle Times reported.
Charges were filed Oct. 1 against the baseball wife with high-end taste. She pleaded not guilty and is free on bond under supervision, according to court documents.
The upscale goods were delivered to Peguero's Fife, Wash., apartment sometime between June 26, 2012, and Oct. 9, 2012. The New York department store started to investigate the large purchases — more than 60 in all — because of the inconsistency between the billing and shipping addresses.

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Felix Hernandez throws during a baseball game against the Oakland Athletics on Sept. 27 in Seattle. Luckily, he and his wife don’t have to pay the bill allegedly racked up on their credit card by teammate Carlos Peguero’s wife.
Government agents reportedly executed a search warrant and seize dozens of items from Peguero's home.
The criminal complaint does not mention star pitcher Hernandez or his wife, but a source familiar with the investigation confirmed their identities to The Seattle Times. Morgan Stanley bank have since reimbursed the Hernandez family.
Randy Adamack, the senior vice president for communications for the Mariners, said that the ball club's officials were aware of the allegations but unable to comment further, according to the Washington paper.
Cy Young-winner Hernandez, 27, makes $19 million with the Mariners. Carlos Peguero, 26, has been splitting his time between the Mariners and their Triple-A affiliate, the Tacoma Rainiers for the last three seasons. He only played two major league games this past season.
