Above the fray.
The article starts off copping pleas from the 2nd paragraph. shyt is comical, he lists kids getting awarded financial aid for college as a reason why men decided to leave their households. He undermined/sabotaged whatever serious point he was trying to make by copping so many pleas.

Real men who were going through the EXACT same struggles as everybody else didn't abandon their families like cowards. Writer needs to stop making excuses for men who ran out on the people who needed them.

The Land That Time Forgot
We bought into the 1960s white Sexual Revolution (rights after the gains of the Civil Rights Movement) which was pro-sex/anti-marriage AND the propaganda was spread that black female-headed households were uniquely "resilient."

Federal family subsidies were given as long as a father/husband wasn't living in the household.

Society must’ve been much more chaotic back then. Black flight to the suburbs, recessions and manufacturing jobs going overseas, heavy police presence because of social movements, a flood of drugs and guns.

shyt set the stage for our modern day.

Yeah, and even Gen Y had to deal with the tail end of the era where crack ravaged the black community.
