It's what happens when you are raised in a society that tells you that you can be anything you want. If you're white you can turn on the TV and see tons of media showing people who look like you as athletes, astronauts, super soldiers, musicians, presidents, CEOs, etc. If you can be anything you want, the logical end of this is that you can be any race you want too. This is actually just another manifestation of white privilege, just like rachel dolezal.
