1. no one will ever be able to fill harrison ford's shoes, it does not matter who they get. his shadow doesn't just loom over the character, it defines it.
2. we have already witnessed this character's redemption story, which means an origin story can only detail his fall from grace. the good kid that got mixed up with the wrong crowd and took to a life of crime.
3. han solo is not in a good space by the time of ANH. he's a self centered, egotistical no good drug runner with a price on his head to boot. he's running from bounty hunters, he's hanging out in dingy bars... and he swindles an old man out of everything he has in exchange for a single transport. he's a lowlife and a scumbag. a prequel movie about his life before ANH cannot have a happy ending.
4. is han solo's backstory a story that really needs to be told? do we NEED to know what he was doing before we first met him in the cantina? does it enrich the character AT ALL? or is disney just trying to cash in on a popular character?
