Why should Hollywood make new and original movies if nobody goes to see those movies?

Honestly, why should Hollywood producers and directors start taking risks and wasting money when it's clear that these risky movies make no money for them?

Do people forget film making is a business? Remakes and sequels are almost a guaranteed profit of some kind.

People can say how much they are tired of Hollywood making the same movies but the fact is that those movies make MONEY

If your a big director you can take risks, John Carter flopped and cost Disney mad money, if Stanton wasn't so big that meat have been it for him for big budget films

What the hell is an original movie? Some shytty thing with bad dialogue, a poor story, etc. is "original" because it's not 100% based on a comic book? Originality means more than that.

It is very possible that they genuinely like what they do and want to bring a story to the big screen regardless of making a profit.
