It’s funny how Hitler, Stalin or Mussolini are notorious for their brutal acts of human genocide, yet a tyrant like Leopold II goes unnoticed in the history pages. Leopold II, the King of Belgium, reduced the population of the Congo from 20 million estimated to 10 million and still managed to retain his reputation as a great monarch.

How do we worldwide make only a fuss about what happened in Europe, but never make mention of the atrocity that occurred in the Congo? Why isn't this as much as "never forget, never again" point in history taught worldwide?

Above the fray.
OP

It's up to the surviving victims of atrocities to tell their stories. People from DRC probably mark and remember that period.
Other Black people around the world who have studied/read about colonialism are aware of the genocide/brutality that occurred there and other colonies on the continent.
Doesnt land on the radar of other people, including those who have suffered their own atrocities.
Holocaust in Europe is the only atrocity that outsiders generally know about or seem concerned about. And that's only because Jews beat us over the head with it in film and print media all our lives.

The Legacy of Genocide began by Leopold II continues in the Congo and will do so until Blacks in the West take responsibility for its discontinuation.

Blacks and or Africans has no Recognizable Worldwide Mass Media outlet...
The Nazi atrocities we constantly see on Mass Media is in the benefit of Jewish Interest who own several Mass Media Outlet.

TRUE WORDS..
They do but their platform will not bring about the change they desire.

It does Land on their radar...
But For them it is an Opportunity to enrich themselves....the change they envision will not bring about the change Desired by the suffering Masses of African Congolese.

Because they’re Black. Large numbers of Black people suffering or dying is viewed as normal.

As African and or Black peoples we do not have a Global Presence of Power....In this World we exist in the Margin or fringes of Global Power as a Source of Resource....Geopolitics

Another thing that ends up blocking the story from being retold is the country/flag that the atrocities happened under.

Portugal, Spain, France, and England had colonies in the Americas AND in Africa after the scramble partition.
The scholars of the corresponding colonies write about their histories as extensions of the imperialism of the Euro power. French West Indies & French controlled Africa, for example.

Belgium wasn't a player in the transatlantic slave trade, so the Congolese story is not being exchanged, compared, studied by a related colony in the Americas. The German atrocities in Namibia are under-reported and under-covered for the same reason.

Why would a Belgian make a story about that?

Congolese scholars and artists have used their platforms to tell the story,

because it’s part of their history and they know best. And it would get views/controversy

you gotta think there are some filmmakers with integrity out there

plenty white film makers have made stories about things happening in Africa cause black/African filmmakers might not have the resources
