Because it captured what time dancing and parties were really on back then. For people watching it in real time, it reflected life and they got a new dance out of it. As for watching it years later, it’s nostalgia because hip hop and the culture took a hard turn by 93 and all that dancing and fun music started dying out. It’s the perfect time capsule of an era in young black America

One of my top 5 movies of a time

The House Party trilogy, for how iconic it is, is STILL underrated in my opinion for its exploration of black male friendship, education, and entrepreneurship

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
House Party - 1990. This was the tail end of the New Jack era. People actually danced a lot in clubs. And Kid N Play we’re known for dancing.

House Party 2 - 1991. The New Jack era was over. Hip hop was more pro black and conscious.

House Party 3 - 1994. This was a pure money grab. The hip hop landscape had changed drastically and it didn’t really fit with the other two.
