North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
most minimum wage employees that work at fast food restaurants don't actually work for the chain itself. They work for franchises. Franchises imo is a form of sharecropping. The margins aren't that great and a lot of people that go into that form of entrepreneurship fail. Because the margins are great raising the minimum wage at a franchise restaurant will cut deep to that owner. It's also why working for one almost guarantees no legit upward mobility.

This is another example of rich corporate businesses having the working middle class and the lower class fighting over scraps.

When all the good jobs have been outsourced by technology, being shipped overseas, and/or still being held on by baby boomers that refuse to retire, that is what you get. 3rd world status.

I think part of the problem is you have a huge supply of high school kids willing to do the job.

Yeah, I think you're onto something there. It would possibly be beneficial if we created something on the local level to take up these children's time, besides school, which I feel is really more important. Unfortunately the economic conditions of the United States have forced families and children to work more and more to support themselves. Think Hunger Games en masse, you would also have the benefit of population control.

Maybe slashing the CEO's bonuses like what COSTCO does can balance things out
How would slashing a CEO's bonus have any effect on a franchise?

Why would the owner of the franchise pass those savings onto employees instead of pocketing them as profit?

Maybe for employee loyalty and a little thing called decency

People are defending these CEOs like they are your lords and masters. Time to cut the greed and bullshyt out, or else you like modern day serfdom.

Asking questions = making a CEO my lord and master?

And what would more employee loyalty add to a McDonald owner's bottom line?

It would make your business/ corporation a better place to work in and make your employees work more efficiently. COSTCO does this and Starbucks, and they still have appreciative employees that can live without much assistance.

Just slash the CEO's and executives inflated bonuses and pay the employees to raise the standard of living.

And how much would the CEOs' and executives' bonuses add to each employee's bottom line?

Follow the Costco method and see how they get things done. Their CEO barely makes $4 million after everything while his peers take in $40-100 million per year.
