There ain't shyt out right now. Then fall comes and there's like 10 games released in 2 weeks and nobody got time for all that.

This is a perfect time to release a game
No competition. Kids/college students are on break. You rather release this shyt when everyone else does?:dwillhuh:

I understand trying to do it for the hollidays but if if your game isn't elite cream of the crop then its not getting picked up over the 15 others that came out at the same time.

Because they won't sell as well as they will after the fact. This time of year NOBODY is selling anything because everyone is taking vacations and shyt. Then after that it's back to school and getting ready for the holodays. By the time people do start shopping again that game would be sitting in the bargain bin when they could have just waited and made the money for the holidays.

You'd he surprised at how many parents come in and buy trash ass video games just because their kid asked for it for Christmas. I once was a GM at Gamestop and I would tell customers "you don't want that" and give a better suggestion just to hear "naw this is what he wants" and then two days after Christmas have that same customer come in like "swear I'm always coming here because you were right" and then they're trading it in for the rape value that GameStop would give them.

The reality is you have an impulse, unless you DON'T have a backlog? You probably already own the best gaming experience you'll have this gen and don't eeeeen no it :francis:

This is old outdated conventional wisdom and doesn’t apply anymore.

Any time a game dropped in the summer and was a big title (last of us,Arkham knight) it sold extremely well.

The average age gamer is like 35 years old.

The sooner companies realize you can release games year round and they will sell the better.

They finally realized you can release games during January and February and they will sell the last few years. The old outdated wisdom was games won’t sell after Christmas. Gamers don’t care anymore. We are older and have our own money.

The sooner the industry let’s go of this nonsense thinking the better. Games that flopped because they were pushed into crowded windows could have flourished if released during slower months.

It’s iust like movies. You can release blockbusters year round now it doesn’t matter the month.

The big IP’s(GTA, RDR, COD, BF) could get away with dropping titles in the summer. I would love if the next GTA was released in July or August.
