Why doesn't Playstation have a PSN ID resurrection like Xbox had a gamertag one 10 years ago?

We all know that getting a decent PSN ID can be challenging with all the good ones taking up by free accounts back in the PS3 days. So why doesn't Playstation have a resurrection like Xbox did 10 years ago? I remember my original gamertag was not available and when they did it I hit up Major Nelson to ask if they could bring back my old gamertag and two days later it was available.

I would like a different PSN ID but again the one that I would like someone has had it for years with not one trophy attached on it. Wonder why they never did this?

Yeah but what is crazy is some of the good names that are taken were done with free accounts that are not even being used anymore. Plus the reason they did not want to do it in the first place made no sense also
