why does it seem like Nick Cage's career has been one big L lately?

I was never a big fan of Nicolas Cage, but I remember during the early 00's, he seemed to be on top

my fave movie that he was in was Gone in 60 seconds

one of my boys loved him in Faceoff

but lately, dude has just been doing terrible movies.... like REALLY terrible movies

the 2 Ghostriders, the Left Behind movie

now I'm watching TNT and a commercial just came on for his latest movie "The Runner"

it's going straight to Direct TV Cinema

that in itself seems like an L

I don't watch DirectTV cinema and I don't know anybody who does

but why is this dude doing straight to DVD movies when he was a huge movie star not that long ago?
