HDMI 2.1 can output 8k60 and they probably figure most TV's will be 8k by the end of the ps5's life cycle. There will probably be a decent amount of movies and youtube videos by then in 8k. Also, if AMD's DLSS solution, that they're working on, gets fined tuned enough, we could potentially see 8k games being super sampled from 4k.
