A lot of times these characters they're cast to play have very similar flaws/traits as the other characters, and because these guys are so familiar to us we can't help but see "them" rather than the character.

while i cant hate on Denzel as an actor overall, i can agree he tends to play the same guy in most movies and thats why i avoid most of his joints except for the ones that just look great
