Lois is actually one of the first "career woman" in media like her, and she outsmarts clark which is rather indearing. Their relationship works for most.

I was actually thinking about this a couple of days ago when reading some old Batman comics. Batman has always had a rotating cast of love interests in the comics: Catwoman, Vicki Vale, Silver St. Cloud (pornstar name), Nocturna (way underrated, IMO... wish they would do a revamp based on the '80s version), Talia al Ghul, Jezebel Jet (pornstar name), etc.

Superman really always just had Lois Lane as an adult. I don't dislike Lois, but I think Superman books probably would've been a lot more interesting over the years if Supes played the field a bit more. Wonder Woman seems like a natural pairing for him, but they're just too perfect, so I don't feel like they belong together and like them better as a platonic relationship.
