- If you don't know, this guy was a referee who got busted by the FBI for betting on games
- He said the Mob were making millions of dollars piggybacking off of his bets
- However, he was only winning about $2000 for every game he won a bet on
- He said he was making $400k a year working as an NBA referee
- And that he only made total $50k from all of his bets on NBA games
So imagine, dude had a great salary, great pension, very respectable job. But lost it all so he could be a "high stakes high roller" gambler
Somehow being a criminal is thought to be a "more exciting" type of life
The money he won was not even close to what he was getting in salary
Somehow being a "Boring" guy who can provide for his family was not enough. It's never a bad thing to be "boring". To have a family, work a 9-5, vacation here and there, and retire at 70. Fast money always turns into Slow money. It ALWAYS does. He says he sees his colleagues still reffing games into their 50s and 60s and wishes he were them
"Boring" people always live longer and make more money in the long run
