Why do folks always say that Thor is nerfed in the MCU?

His very first fight in Thor 1, he went to the Ice Giants planet and was putting hands on any and everybody.

In Thor 2, he was tanking hits from whoever he was fighting. In Avengers, it was obvious that he was holding back probably cause of collateral damage and if he went all out, he would probably wind up accidentally killing his own teammates.

In Thor 3, he took out Surtur in less than 5 minutes.

He took out the Hulk without his hammer.

He almost took Thanos out on his own. He went up against Thanos with all the Infinity Stones and almost got him.

In What If, he was putting hands on Carol Danvers like it was nothing.

No one has ever really hurt him besides Thanos.

Don't look nerfed to me. :yeshrug:

It's less his strength that's been nerfed than his intelligence and tactics. It's canon that he only uses about a third of his full power against mortal enemies in the comics, so the disparity in power displayed against different groups makes sense.

His bumbling & overall goofiness is the issue from a guy that's been a warrior longer than civilization has existed on Earth.

They gave y'all serious Thor for what, 4 or 5 movies and y'all didn't like it, then they switched it up :yeshrug:

I don't think he is but they just don't like that he's a California frat bro now
I think marvel knows that mcu thor is really a woman favorite so they let him be goofy as fukk to appeal to them and so he could hang with the guardians.
but to be honest he was always goofy since thor 1 it's just the movie's tones have changed.

Infinity War was Thor at his peak, both as a character and hero. End Game ruined all that. Now he’s going to spend “his” movie telling Natalie Portman how much better than him she is while she repeatedly kicks him in the balls.
Can’t wait.

Go read the Ragnarok comic arc.
Then read the Asgard-in-Broxton comics.
Then read the Siege comics.
Read Kid Loki's Journey Into Mystery comics.
Then read the Thor: God of Thunder. Issues 1-11 deal with Gorr, the next issues after that deal with Malekith the Accursed.

Then come back here and tell me that ANYthing in the MCU does ANY of them justice. Thor, Loki, Malekith, Warriors Three, pick any character, hero or villain.

I'll wait.

The MCU thought they struck gold with the frat boy goofiness in GotG - and that wasn't even the reason, it was the music nostalgia/aesthetic by far - and spread that same idiot formula into everything else to a lesser extent...but especially Thor and Hulk.

It costs a lot of money to show these heroes at full power like the comics.

Hate it or love it but Batman v Superman was kinda the first movie to pull it off.
