Difference is that in America they mostly disappear poor and colored folks for trivial "offenses". For some reason, the government bullying billionaires who only have their wealth because of the protection of the state doesn't really concern me.
Some of their billionaires have knowledge gaps that can only be cured in isolation away from from the public eye. They will eventually resurface with clearer vision

Our education centers are set up a bit differently here so billionaires wouldn't feel as compelled to stick around to learn much. On the bright side, they might leave a donation on their way out.

They’re already a communist country lol. If anything this crackdown could hurt their current system, which includes some (regulated) capitalist aspects. Xi has said that he wants to address the income gaps, and China recently banned people from showing their wealth on social media.

No one becomes a billionaire in china without the governments approval. Sounds like the government is asking these billionaires to do something, the billionaire doesn't want to do this for personal, financial, political or even possibly moral reasons, and is either slow walking the government or outright refusing. The govt decides they need to show them who is boss.
