Why didn't Ojukwu didn't court the Southwest into leaving Nigeria?

Just got done watching a documentary on the Nigerian Civil War and I was wondering about the amount of animosity the Southwestern states had against the North, it would have made sense that Ojukwu ask them to join Biafra. Any thoughts?

The West didn't have any animosity towards the North. Western leader Awolowo made several attempts to get Ojukwu to abandon secession, so Ojukwu already knew trying to get the West to go along was a nonstarter.
