In season three, the episode where Avon comes home, Stringer is having a meeting in their club with Clay Davis, two white dudes, and Levy, and they're talking to Avon about switching into the real estate game.

Later Levy tells Stringer that he fukked up by giving Clay Davis money and that he should have ran it by him first and that everyone knows Clay Davis is a snake. Why didn't Levy just tell Stringer that in the beginning? That's the only thing - however minor - about this series that has always had me

He didn't know specifically what was gonna happen, but he knew Clay Davis was a snake ass leech.

I don't think Levy owed Stringer anything, and obviously he's just a leech as well and not actually working in the interests of him. This only came up because he later said that Stringer should have talked to him before dealing with Clay Davis, but he already knew Stringer was dealing with him.

Stringer was only dealing with Stringer through Levy.

Stringer gave Clay 250K+. let's say Levy was in on the deal, it would have only been 100K, Levy would take 25 off the top, and Levy would know if he could actually do what he was promising. Stringer dealing with Clay directly, he just got fleeced completely. Levy was a leach, but he had to keep Stringer on the hook, so he'd never completely fukk him over.
