LOL @ a guaranteed money maker that the fans had been waiting for. No, Bret. The only ones who were really waiting for that match were you and your super marks who were still mad about '93. No one else really cared about that match in 1998. There wasn't a huge group of fans clamoring and begging for that match so I don't see it as throwing money away because it wouldn't have been that big of a draw, IMO. Hogan didn't need to work with Bret. Bret needed to work with Hogan. Especially when you consider the fact that Bret was in no way, shape, or form one of the top stars or draws in that company. It's pretty clear that Hogan didn't see money in working with Bret because if he did, you can bet they would've worked a program together as we all know Hogan never misses the money train.
The biggest mistake they made in '98 was giving a REAL guaranteed money maker in Goldberg/Hogan away for free on Nitro. That was one of the all-time dumbest decisions in the history of our sport.
Of the things WCW could have done better in 98-99 to win the war, pushing Bret Hart more isn't one of them.
Agreed. It's not even in the top ten of things they could've done better/differently, IMO. I laugh every time I read (from Bret super marks) that WCW should've just made Bret the top guy and smash him over the rest of the roster and that would've won them the war. Just asinine thinking on their part. Yeah, lets give Bret Hart the big rocket push and have him go over much bigger stars and much bigger draws! Yeah! That'll work! LOL.
