Why did WWF book the WCW World Champ to beat the WWF World Champ?

Something that baffles me till this day

Especially considering the fact they still take digs at WCW to this day

Why did they have a WCW mid carder go over WWFs 2 biggest stars of the late 90s?

Stone Cold was a WCW mid carder too but that was the early 90s and most people under 35 don't even remember the Hollywood Blonds.

I assume you are talking Chris Jericho?

Jericho was a WWF guy at that point. In fact, more "WWF" wrestlers held THAT "WCW" title than actual WCW wrestlers during the invasion.

They gave respect to the WCW title itself but not the actual performers. Outside of Booker T, DDP and Shane Helms, all the WCW guys were jobbers and even those guys got treated as clowns at times.
