In some respect to Jim Lehrer, dude has been in news media for over 50 years. The man has moderated 11 Presidential debates and he was good in the other ones. I think he was picked to do it on relatively short notice and he was just not into it as he should have been. They could've got someone better, but this is probably his last debate and they wanted to give him one last hurrah.
