He was in a weird position where creative was really high on him but they never bothered to build him. He was the second person in NXT to get a double pay raise after his first contract, the first being Kevin Owens so that basically meant they felt he was main roster ready.
Of course there's also this story about him getting some backstage heat on the main roster and supposedly Vince cooled off on him afterwards.

A botch in a match against Jericho. I think it happened right after they wanted to push him a bit more so they weren't happy with it (it looked bad and was entirely his fault).What did he get heat for?

I don't think.that was a gimmick... I think nikkas are legit calling him Apollo Creed because that's the Only Apollo the world knows besides show time... if they wanted to name him Apollo his last name should not have a C at all.. they set him up
