Real Clear Politics has a story up about the fact that less white people came out to vote this year compared to 2008...almost 7 million fewer. It is pretty interesting.
It looks like there is a subsection of white voters that were not feeling Obama for whatever reason (his race, his politics) but also had no love for Romney (his religion, his politics) either. So what exactly are these 7 million disenchanted voters looking for I wonder?
Here is the article; its a really interesting read:

If I'm reading this correctly the minority vote were up from 2008? Damn..I did not see that coming. I thought the Obama hype was at its height in 2008.

It not just that but Black people and Latinos came out again in full force (for the most part), just off the strength of that the Repubs have to rethink their strategy,

Threadstarter knows why :shaq:

My assumption is a combination of racism and religious intolerance. But that just makes me wonder if this 7 million is a set number of voters that are going to just check out of the election system for the rest of their lives unless they are presented with white Christian candidates from both sides.

You forget that there are some white Christians who REFUSE to vote for a Mormon. Don't underestimate the number of these people. There are a lot of them.

Yeah the hype peaked in 2008. But in 2012 it wasn't about hype, people showed up cuz they individually made the decision to go to work and forcefully kick the GOP in the ass.

When I showed up at polling place at 7AM and saw a 2 hour wait in the freezing cold (97% black) at first I was :damn: but also :to:...it was beautiful.

This was way more important than 08. White folks kinda act like they gave us that, but we took this one... :salute:

that list is pointless without a minimum of 5 presidential elections to compare and contrast

see this is what we mean by fudging the numbers (not aimed at you OP)

but what was the white vote in 2004??? what was the white vote in 1996??? what percentage of the eligible white vote do these numbers make up??? what percentage of the registered white vote do these numbers make up???

if you can compile totals, why not just give us the white vote per state (that would answer every question in the book)

I'd kick that muhfukka out my office for bringing me such a short sided ass chart

Evangelicals as much as people say the Republican party has to give up on the social issues they can't afford to do so...Huckabee probably would have brought them out Herman Cain Sarah Palin and santorum

The per state thing might be relevant here. With the media and info available nowadays, I think people get it that only swing states matter and it's basically useless to vote for prez if you live in a blue or red state.

If that's the case I'd hope fat man would run as an independent or Dem and keep his same ideals. If there's a democratic candidate out there that isnt on the tit of the unions that would be an ideal candidate for the country...

Didn't want to vote for a black man, but hated Romney.
