Why did it take Edge so long to pop?

Edge was just "Edge & Christian" for me from attitude era up until 2005 when I stopped watching. I always looked at Edge as champion/main event material. He's basically a taller Jericho. He finally became champion after I stopped watching. And as I go through old YouTube videos catching up, it doesn't seem like he had a bad run. He's an 11 time champ which could've and should've been more had they worked on him sooner and stopped hindering his growth with lame ass Christian

Was a flop until the Matt Hardy feud. He was pushed hard but didnt do great. He had nothing going till he fukked Lita.

Christian carried him and was always the better wrestler.

he's a overrated chump. They protected him in the tag team ranks..then he was pushed in 01 like a star after King of the Ring. Had him trading wins with RVD and shyt. They went wild with it at WM 21 even though Lita cheating is why the heat around them was loud on Raw.

I remember I had stopped watching pretty much any wrestling for a good decade or so.
For whatever reason I caught the show when Edge retired and they announced the amount of world titles he won and I was legit Wtf happened lol
