Why Dead Presidents didn't get the Criterion treatment?

Everything about the movie just screams "digitally restored" and etc. The Hughes Brothers treated black cinema with such care especially this flick. I mean look at these shots:

The soundtrack though:wow:. Like this movie would be a perfect candidate to get a directors cut, commentary, and the works. I seriously don't understand why this movie gets overlooked when it comes down to GOAT movies and so forth in the world of cinema:mjcry:

fukk them though. Movie is a classic

It's a shame breh. Like I remember the first time watching the flick and was blown away by the presentation. The movie felt special and really tackled the struggles of a black man in the 70s. From the government forgetting about their contributions to the war to the lack of jobs during the fierce recession of it's time. The ending of the flick speaks volumes as desperation becomes a prison for a desperate man. Just...smh. The Hughes Brothers will never get their due:wow:
