Who do you side with on this? Does this violate religious freedom (regardless of whether you're religious or not). I'm just asking from a Constitution stand point

The Daily Tribune - Christians rally in Detroit to protest Obama administration’s contraception mandate

It might violate a certain kind of religious freedom, but that's not the point, imo. In other words, anti-polygamy laws might violate the religious freedom of Mormons and Muslims to take more than one wife, but I guarantee you that making that argument against them won't get those laws changed.

Secularism involves not interfering with religion, as long as religion doesn't interfere with the laws of the state. In other words, the state always has priority. The question isn't, or shouldn't be whether or not the mandate violates religious freedom, it's whether or not it's a legitimate law for other reasons, and that would then be compared with any potential religious violations to see whether it outweighed them or not. The religion issue isn't and shouldn't be an a priori here.

Its a dumb argument that shouldn't even be taken seriously

so when the government says we want you to pay for contraceptive, its against your beliefs.....

but somehow that same belief was never expressed to or by the tens of thousands of believers in your faith, seeing as birth control IS used by an overwhelming majority of them

somehow again, a religious construct gets to pick and choose their moral high ground when they cross paths with ppl "outside" their specific faith, but turn a blind eye to those within their own group

amazing.
