Imagine telling a jewish person the same thing about the holocaust. The insenitivity and lack of empathy is wild.
At my first job out of highschool i befriended a white colleague up until he refrenced a cartoon(i think it was south park) which joked about the KKK. He truly did not understand why it bothered me because i was not directly affected by them, until i compared the bombing terrorism of the KKK in the south to the alqaeda 911 incident. All of a sudden it made sense to him.
Imediately after i made the comparison white dude hit the audible "ohhhhhhh".
Of course, this only works when their comment comes from a genuine place of ignorance, instead of malice as we see with other white people, where such effort isnt worth it. And of course most black people dont want to(and shouldnt have to) put in the effort to see if its genuine or not.
