Nobody is. It is still growing as a culture and not just a thing to do.

It's between Tsu Surf, Daylyt, and Lux. :smugfavre:

But the truth is there's no clear cut head and shoulders GOAT, especially considering the fact that current battle rap (on video) hasn't been around THAT long, and there's a big divide between the freestyle era and the more written era.

It's between Murda Mook or Loaded Lux.

Neither are in my favorite list , Just being reality.

Both are forefathers of the current battle scene dating all the way back to the Street DVD's ( many of those guys back then could not evolve to the current style)

And neither has ever been bodybagged ( Mook kinda bodybagged luck the second time they battled though)

Lux in 2006/7

Flow and wordplay as unlike anything we had yet seen. Other battle cats kinda caught on now...but back then Lux was in a zone with that unorthodox style.

Old school battle fans know.

Lux has Nas-level lyricism. Say what you want about him and his style and the preaching shyt, but lyrically homey is in that top tier level with ANY rapper.

From 2007

Lux was not your average battle rapper. That Cocaine had him coming up with some out of the world shyt...plus his unique flow..and the way he links and weaves together the punchlines. Very complex.

1:35 onwards :blessed:

''....I'ma hustle, slang...crime pays
Dudes over West aint even got this kind yay''

''You birds strapped?...I mean all that bragging, ice and carrots is all Whoopee
....then you get them gold bags snatched''

''You snitching, I dont rock witchu
Coppers could rock me till my eyes is blue, only thing I would admit to is a hospital''
