Kanye is such at beast this.
He's flipped techno, soul, R&B, gospel, pop, reggae, dancehall and everything in between. It's not just the fact that he experiments with all those genres, but he nails it almost every time and consistently turns them into hits. But it's also that he takes popular songs and puts his own spin on it (of course that's the point of a sample, but I feel like Kanye really makes it his own).
Even though it's been overplayed to the nth degree, "Stronger" is such an upgrade over what Daft Punk did. And how he turned Nina Simone's "Strange Fruit" into a banger

I don't know but it works 
DJ Paul & Juicy J for "play me some pimpin" soul samples but also off the wall samples through the 90's that ranged from horror movies to cartoons to video games (before it was cool) to rock/alternative.
They did a lot of cocaine and sampled a lot of everything
