I really want to put Nat Turner up there, but I don't know who I could take off.

Toussaint Louverture ( he's not an American I know, but he's the greatest black leader in history as far as I am concerned. He led the ONLY successful slave rebellion in history)

Maybe you just didnt word this the exact way you wanted to, but as it stands thats not correct at all.

For certain I'd put Malcolm X in. If we're including our Caribbean brothers I think you have to make a case for Garvey. Then I'd probably say King and Tubman.

This is very hard to do so many influential people to choose from and different reasons to choose them, Du bois, Thurgood, Carter G., Frederick D, Nat Turner, Mary McLeod Bethune, etc.

OP I just noticed I made the same list as you :snoop:

Thurgood is SEVERELY underrated as an American, period.

Surprised he doesn't get a lot of love around these parts.

I don't recall any slave rebellions that were successful like Haitian revolution.

What other slave rebels achieved complete autonomy and founded their own country? none.

Malcolm X

I think personally if MLK or Malcolm X isn't in your top 4 you need to turn in your race card. Our current freedoms are owed to the reaction to MLK's nonviolent approach, and the fear of Malcolm X's ultraviolent approach (before he went to Mecca)
