Who in their right mind would seriously accept these door-to-door sales jobs?

I applied for what i thought was a marketing gig and these trolls called me back

I almost had one with AIG, the commission is good but I heard you have to work like 50-60 hrs so no home life

This was actually what my last job was like. I found the listing on craigslist and they posed the position to be filled as something for a "marketing services' agency which made it seem more promising then it actually was. I went on for a first round interview at the company, then a second round, then I got the job. It was for selling Escos (energy services company) door to door. It was such bullshyt mane. I felt like a fool doing it. It was all commission based at by successfully selling an "app" to one person it was $20 dollars. The best people did 3-5 a day while I struggled to do that in a week. Going door to door (we had to go to 100 doors during our shifts) and saying the same thing over and over again for 4 weeks was terrible. I just stopped coming in cause I was out for 12+ hours a day and not even making any money. And the people working there were insufferable.

Those type of jobs build skills that you can't get in college. I highly recommend everyone do some time in face-to-face sales.

I think it helps greatly. But I have to admit, those type of jobs are really easy to find and will hire anyone (especially out of college grads). That's mainly because they have high turnover rates because they aren't based on a set salary, not everyone can do those type of jobs and only a small percentage of people will actually be able to do them and move on to higher positions.

Really though, the best sales people are the ones that aren't afraid to go ot of their element. Personally, it's just not for me and I just got sick and tired of those sales type jobs being the only ones that would give me a chance. Actually trying to get a good job with a solid salary, insurance, and benefits is my dream right now.

Months of just scraping by on the edge of poverty. Not being paid. Losing My Security! Going on a road trip for a company where I have to pay for the hotel room? Why is this person being paid cash daily? Why is my sister giving half of her money away to new employees -- shouldnât that be the responsibility of the company? Why does my friend live in squalor with 10 people that he works with? Why did Bob turn away from his family when they tried to talk some sense into him? You are going to move across the country with a company and they wonât foot ANY of the relocation costs?
What kind of outfit is this? How can it be so big? Iâve never heard of it before!
