Who in real life had/has a come up that was similar to Vito Corleone?



I think maybe Joe Kennedy Sr., though he wasn't as poor as Vito Corleone was starting out. He was involved in bootlegging, stock market manipulation, insider trading.

Vito was based on Carlo Gambino minus the childhood.

Edit: Let me clarify that. MOSTLY Gambino. Profaci owned an olive oil company and still has a sicilian accent like Banano
